Diversity in the Workplace: 2016’s Top Companies

In today’s overheated, sloganeering political climate in which opinions about ethnicity have become ideological points to be scored, you might not know that business continues to make real progress on diversity in the workplace.

Diversity is now recognized as a core driver of business growth and innovation. According to a McKinsey study, companies with diverse managements achieve higher earnings and deliver greater shareholder value. DiversityInc has released its list of 2016 Top 50 Companies for Diversity to honor companies that have demonstrated an exemplary commitment to diversity across various aspects of their business. DiversityInc assessed performance in four key areas: workforce breakdown and recruitment, equitable talent development, CEO and leadership commitment, and supplier diversity.

The 2016 list is a who’s who of familiar companies. Standouts include Novartis, AT&T, and Sodexo, noted for their above average promotions for women and minorities into management roles, and for above average supplier diversity.
