UN Foundation Reveals 17 Cause Marketing Goals
In the same way Russian hackers salivate when they access a trove of credit card numbers, the execs attending Cause Marketing Forum were ecstatic when they got a sneak peek at previously undisclosed United Nations Foundation data.
Aaron Sherinian, chief communications and marketing officer for the UN Foundation, teased the 500 nonprofit and corporate marketers in Chicago Wednesday with details of a global study that polled millions of people about vexing social and environmental problems that need to be remedied.
"The world is going to get a new to-do list in September," Sherinian, adding that CMF attendees need not commission their own polling firm because he was going to share the 17 top goals for cause marketers.
The list, scheduled for formal release at the UN Foundation's September Social Good Summit, includes the following goals:
  1. No Poverty
  2. No Hunger
  3. Good Health
  4. Quality Education
  5. Gender Equality
  6. Clean Water and Sanitation
  7. Modern Energy
  8. Good Jobs and Economic Growth
  9. Innovation and Infrastructure
  10. Reduced Inequalities
  11. Sustainable Cities and Communities
  12. Responsible Consumption
  13. Protect the Planet
  14. Life Below Water
  15. Life Above Water
  16. Peace and Justice
  17. Partnerships for the Future
Sherinian's speech struck a chord in a room full of charities seeking partnerships with corporations wishing to be known for people and planet, as well as for profits.
