Hydraid® filters cut CO2 emissions and provide safe drinking water for families and communities.

NEW YORK, N.Y. / SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., February 12, 2013 /3BL Media/ – GreenBiz Group, Inc., the first media company focused exclusively on defining and accelerating the business of sustainability, has selected NativeEnergy as the official carbon offset sponsor for the 2013 GreenBiz Forums in New York City and San Francisco. NativeEnergy will balance the emissions from attendee travel, venue use, and hotel accommodations with signature Help Build™ carbon offsets and other carbon offsets.

Framed by the 2013 State of Green Business report, the 2013 GreenBiz Forums bring together thought leaders and sustainability executives to define the trends, challenges, and opportunities in sustainable business today. This year’s attendees include corporate social responsibility leaders like Microsoft, Motorola Solutions, REI, The Coca-Cola Company, and the Walt Disney Company.

NativeEnergy will supply carbon offsets from a clean water project in Kenya, a wind project in Indiana, and a methane capture project in Colorado. The offsets from all three projects will be third-party verified to internationally recognized carbon standards.

NativeEnergy recently announced plans to develop multiple international clean water projects; the Kenya Clean Water Project is the first. Through this initiative, NativeEnergy carbon offsets provide upfront funding for Hydraid® BioSand water filters for families in need. These slow-sand filters eliminate the greenhouse gas emissions that typically result from boiling water using unsustainably harvested wood. The project is certified by The Gold Standard and will reduce emissions for years to come. NativeEnergy will exhibit a demo Hydraid® filter at GreenBiz Forum NYC.

“We’re excited to take the next step in addressing emissions from the GreenBiz Forums,” said Eric Faurot, CEO, GreenBiiz Group. “We’ve admired NativeEnergy’s innovative and community-based carbon projects for years, and we’re proud to partner to make our event more sustainable.”
