The report summarizes Nexen’s commitment to being a responsible energy company, offering a candid look at the opportunities and challenges experienced in 2011 and strategies to manage these going forward.

Highlights include:

  • Achieved a record-setting Total Recordable Injury Frequency (TRIF) of 0.67 for employees and contractors combined.
  • Reduced the volume of spills by 67% over 2010.
  • Established a data management system to centralize waste and water data across the company.
  • Invested approximately $9.1 million through grants and donations in Nexen’s three community investment priority areas.
  • Contributed significantly to economic growth, with $2.5 billion invested by Nexen in goods and services and approximately $2.3 billion in income taxes and royalties.
