Video Interview: Alisa Gravitz at the New Economics Institute Strategies for a New Economy Conference

Jun 25, 2012 7:00 PM ET

Recorded live at the New Economics Institute Strategies for a New Economy Conference on June 9, 2012, Green America President and Executive Director Alisa Gravitz speaks about the leadership needed to continue advancing the current shift to the new economy that's vibrant and offers more choices for a better way of life. "We need a new kind of leadership for the new economy movement: the old, conventional, falling-apart economy that's not working -- one of the problems has been failure of leadership at big, centralized systems, pushing efficiencies to the point that they don't even care about people and planet as they do their work. Not working," Gravitz says. "So what we need to move toward is a more collective, collaborative system, some people call it decentralized, some people call it lateral, but the idea is, just like the food and energy systems that are becoming more decentralized -- people can take leadership from wherever they are. So it's a very empowering kind of movement."
