(3Bl Media / theCSRfeed) March 17, 2011 - With the disaster in Japan continuing to unfold, leading worldwide companies have found a way to collectively respond to the situation and provide immediate relief funds through their employee base.  From now until the end of April, two million employees from companies such as Newell-Rubbermaid, AAA and others will have access to a centralized online donation platform that will facilitate the immediate transfer of funds to organizations in Japan that need it most.

The platform is being provided for free by AngelPoints, a pioneering developer of Corporate Social Responsibility software, to its entire clientele of more than 70 Fortune-1000 companies.  In partnership with online volunteer and donation site Network for Good, the two have currently identified over 15 non-profits – including Save the Children, AmeriCares, American Red Cross, Global Giving Foundation, OxFam America and Doctors Without Borders – to receive the collective donations.

The impact of the fast and effective giving potential of the corporations participating in the “Japan Relief Drive via AngelPoints” demonstrates the power of a centralized system to respond to tragedy and share best practices, maximizing aid and donations to those in need. The goal is to have all its clientele using the Giving platform. This initiative by AngelPoints will allow top U.S. and multinational corporations to make credit card donations as well as provide matching gifts, increasing aid exponentially and letting companies track their contributions.
