(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) Stamford, Conn. - May 26, 2011 - The Anheuser-Busch Foundation and Keep America Beautiful (KAB) have partnered to establish the “Lend-A-Bin Grant Program.” Their efforts support local organizations seeking to provide recycling opportunities at special events and promote the habit of recycling “on-the-go” in their communities. Applications are now open to participate in this program. 

“Diverting material from disposal into recycling systems creates jobs, saves energy, decreases pollution and provides recycled content material for new products,” said Matthew M. McKenna, president and CEO of Keep America Beautiful. “We’re delighted that Anheuser-Busch has provided funding to support this important effort.”
 
Organizations that receive bin grants will be responsible for identifying local recycling opportunities and lending the bins to others in their communities.
 
“The ‘Lend-A-Bin Grant Program’ empowers local organizations to support special events and ‘on-the-go’ recycling locations that otherwise may not receive these resources,” said Kathy Casso, Anheuser-Busch vice president of Corporate Social Responsibility. “With new programs like this and many others, Keep America Beautiful offers practical and effective methods to help preserve and protect our world.”
 
An I ROGO (Recycle on the Go) social media presence will accompany the grant program. Those that borrow the recycling bins will be given I ROGO campaign material that will direct users to Facebook. Organizations with the most chatter about Recycling On The Go will receive prizes.
 
Applications must be registered online at http://lendabingrant.org/ by June 30, 2011. As part of the grant request, applicants will be asked to describe their program needs, request preferred bin type (from a selection of three models), and describe how bins will be lent out to others for special one-time events. Recipients will be selected based on demonstration of the greatest potential impact.
 
Applications are open to state and local government agencies, Keep America Beautiful affiliates and members of State Recycling Organizations. Keep America Beautiful will contact grantees in July 2011 to offer guidance, confirm their needs, and solidify bin selection. Suppliers will deliver bins directly to the recipients throughout the summer.
