(3BLMedia/theCSRfeed) ATLANTA, GA -  March 30, 2010 – Coca-Cola Enterprises (NYSE: CCE) has been recognized as a recipient of the 2010 Atlanta Business Chronicle Environmental Award in the “Green Save” category for the company’s water conservation efforts in metro Atlanta.

Water Stewardship is one of CCE’s Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (CRS) focus areas. The company has set a goal to establish a water-sustainable operation and have a water-neutral impact on its local communities by the year 2020. CCE has implemented water-saving technologies such as dry lubrication, air rinsers, and can warmers in its manufacturing processes and is currently one of the most water-efficient users in the beverage industry. From 2006-2008, the company reduced its water use ratio by five percent. Locally, these innovative technologies have saved the City of Atlanta more than 1.65 million gallons of water.

“Our water conservation efforts at Coca-Cola Enterprises not only address the water we use in our own operations, but also in our communities,” said John Brock, chairman and chief executive officer. “From new technology in our facilities to helping local communities conserve water by creating rainwater harvesting barrels or rain gardens, we are committed to have a water-neutral impact on our communities – replenishing the water we use from local watersheds to ensure we do not take out more than we give back.”

The Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Environmental Awards recognize companies and individuals that are working to conserve metro Atlanta’s natural resources, curb pollution, develop new products to serve the environment, support environmental projects and initiatives, and spread the green word through marketing and education. The winners were announced on Friday, March 26 at an event at the Georgia Aquarium and were featured in the March 26 issue of Atlanta Business Chronicle.
