VolunteerMatch Solutions Best Practice Network Webinar 6/15: #Storytelling as Best Practice with @GoodmanCenter: http://3bl.me/4yg3fc

Webinar Date and Time: Tuesday, 6/15, 2010 9AM-10AM PT / 12PM-1PM ET

Topic and Speaker : Best Practices in Corporate Engagement from VolunteerMatch Solutions: Storytelling as Best Practice with Andy Goodman, CoFounder and Director of The Goodman Center

Since we first began talking to each other, telling stories has been an effective way to capture attention, engage an audience, and motivate them to act. Modern technology has given us shiny new tools to help us communicate - Twitter, Facebook, etc. - but in our fervor to remain current (and appear professional) we often ignore our natural inclination to tell a good story. In this webinar, Andy Goodman, Cofounder and Director of The Goodman Center, a marketing and communications consulting firm, will explain why he believes storytelling is the single most powerful communication tool we possess, and he will offer specific ways a company can use stories to advance its mission.

Speaker Profile: Andy Goodman, CoFounder and Director of The Goodman Center

Andy Goodman is cofounder and director of The Goodman Center, with Lipman Hearne. But first he pursued his childhood dream of writing for television, moving to Los Angeles in 1991 to take his shot. He landed successfully on the ABC-TV sitcom Dinosaurs, where he spent three seasons before moving to CBS to help launch The Nanny. While at Dinosaurs, Andy wrote three episodes that won awards from the Environmental Media Association (EMA), a Hollywood-based nonprofit that encourages members of the television and film industries to incorporate environmental themes into their work. So perhaps it was inevitable that when Andy decided to leave TV behind, EMA hired him as its president.

Andy Goodman is a nationally recognized author, speaker and consultant in the field of public interest communications. Along with the book, Storytelling as Best Practice, he is author of Why Bad Ads Happen to Good Causes and Why Bad Presentations Happen to Good Causes. He also publishes a monthly journal, free-range thinking, to share best practices in the field.

In 2007, Andy was selected by Al Gore to train 1,000 volunteers who are currently delivering presentations about global warming around the U.S.

And in 2008, Andy co-founded The Goodman Center with Lipman Hearne to offer online versions of his workshops as well as new courses in marketing and communications.

Best Practice Network Webinars are free, hour-long events.
