(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) Chestnut Hill, MA – February 22, 2012 – Community involvement is a critical part of every company’s approach to corporate citizenship. But companies can’t do everything. And they can’t be all things to all people. So where will they focus and what will they do? Who knows?

At the same time, it is vital for companies to effectively communicate inside the company to engage and inspire employees to participate, and outside the company to maximize the visibility and value of community involvement initiatives. But if the message about those initiatives is muddled – or worse, not being heard – the same question arises: Who knows? 
 
The Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship knows what community involvement professionals need to do their job. This April in Dallas, instructors from the Center will present the following 2-1/2-day courses on strategy and communications that deliver the knowledge and skills required to tackle those challenges and answer perplexing questions.
 
  • Create a community involvement strategy that delivers social AND business value

  • Learn to sharpen the focus of an existing strategy to boost impact and use resources more efficiently

  • Strengthen collaboration skills to set strategy across the business

  • Protect strategies from common pitfalls that threaten implementation

  • Craft compelling messages about community involvement for internal and external audiences

  • Explore the essential elements of developing and executing effective communication plans

  • Master communication do's and don'ts and other fundamentals

  • Examine communication trends, social reporting and the power of social media

Each course is one step toward earning a Certificate in Corporate Community Involvement Management. Boston College, through its Center for Corporate Citizenship at the Carroll School of Management, is the only university in North America that offers this certificate. Certification requires completion of five 2-1/2-day courses.
