Alcoa is partnering with the Global Reporting Initiative to develop the next generation of CSR reporting guidelines. Alcoa will serve as a participant and sponsor of The Global G4 Consortium, advising GRI during the development of new Guidelines to help ensure they address the most important challenges in the corporate sustainability reporting field. The GRI Guidelines, originally launched in 1999, are the most widely used global sustainability reporting framework.

British civil servants have been praised as champion energy savers. The central government departments at Whitehall have announced a reduction in carbon emissions by nearly 14 percent in one year, exceeding the original target of 10 percent. Savings throughout the British government cut energy bills by 13 million pounds, about $20,700,000 dollars, according to the Department of Energy and Climate change. Prime Minister David Cameron also announced a new goal to cut emissions by 25 percent by 2015, including emissions from government travel.
