Alpro has become the first European food company to join the WWF Climate Savers program. The program’s goal is to help industries and businesses to develop new climate and energy solutions. Alpro has committed to keep its manufacturing plants’ carbon dioxide emissions to levels below those of 2008, despite an expected growth of one-third in production volume. The company will also evaluate ways to further reduce its indirect emissions in the areas of packaging and transportation.

UPS has begun using biodiesel at its hub in Louisville, Kentucky. The Worldport facility is the most important hub in UPS’s global operations, processing over 400,000 packages per hour and turning around 100 aircraft each day. The biodiesel fueling station services 200 vehicles and other diesel equipment which loads packages on and off planes.
