Cone Communications has released the 2011 Cone/Echo Global CR Opportunity Study, a 10-country survey that draws on data from countries that make up half the world’s population. Among the study’s findings: 81 percent of consumers say companies have a responsibility to address key social and environmental issues beyond their local communities. 93 percent of consumers want to know more about what companies are doing to operate more responsibly, and 89 percent expect companies to use both traditional and new media channels to reach them with that information.

The Conference Board will host a public symposium on October 20th on the topic of corporate political spending. At the event, the organization will release a new report on transparency and accountability in corporate political spending that will focus on suggested policies and practices. The Conference Board’s Committee on Corporate Political Spending is chaired by Microsoft and Merck, with representatives from Campbell Soup Company, Exelon Corporate, Pfizer, and Prudential Financial.
