CAMPAIGN: The CSR Minute

CONTENT: Press Release

Hello, I’m Emily Polk, and these are your CSR Minute headlines for Thursday, February 11th:

The David Suzuki Foundation has awarded a bronze medal for climate protection initiatives to the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. The Vancouver-based foundation gives the Olympic organizers high marks for energy efficient venues, and for including alternative energy sources such as waste heat from refrigeration systems, landfill methane, and ground-source heat. Greenhouse gas emissions are projected to be 15 percent below a “business as usual” approach. The scorecard docked the Olympics several points, however, for choosing a $600 million highway upgrade instead of investing in sustainable transportation.

Angel Acquisition Corp. has signed a $3.5 million financing agreement with a private investor to partner with Angels’ new micro-financing, micro-banking, and micro-lending network, www.angelsinaction.tv. Clearstone Partners has committed to be the primary source of capital behind the microfinance Web-portal, and The Angels in Action community. The site features “Angels,” individuals or groups who donate $10 or more per month to finance American entrepreneurs. The Angels in Action community features U.S.-based entrepreneurs, promotes their products and services, and administers micro-loans.
