Fairtrade is the most widely recognized ethical label globally, according to a new study of 17,000 consumers. The survey, conducted by Globescan, an opinion research consultancy, showed that six in ten consumers across the 24 countries surveyed have seen the Fairtrade Certification Mark. More than 80 percent recognize the Mark in the U.K., Ireland, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Austria, and Finland. Nine out of ten consumers who recognize the Fairtrade Mark regard it as a trusted label.

Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation has awarded $1 million to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. Grants of up to $50,000 each will fund repairs and renovations at 23 clubs across the country. In many cases, Lowe’s employee volunteers will provide hands-on help. Since 2009, the L.C.E.F. has contributed $3 million to fund improvements at 60 clubs.
