General Mills and the General Mills foundation have pledged $650,000 in disaster relief for southern states affected by last month’s storms. $100,000 will be donated to the American Red Cross, and $550,000 in cash and product donations will go to Feeding America, the hunger relief organization. Feeding America will provide food to victims of the storms and to volunteer relief workers.

Anvil Knitwear has won the award for Best First Time Report in a competition sponsored by Ceres and the Association for Chartered Certified Accountants. Anvil, a manufacturer of sustainable apparel, was cited for its commitment to the integration of sustainability into its business model, and for its candid descriptions of key challenges facing the company and its industry. The Award was announced at last week’s annual Ceres conference in Oakland.
