IKEA and Volvo are ranked among the top brands for sustainability in Sweden, according to a new consumer poll. The study of 3,000 Swedish consumers found that Swedish companies have a competitive advantage compared to foreign brands, as domestic brands are perceived by shoppers to be better at sustainability issues. Among the other Top Ten brands ranked are Coop [“co-op”], ICA, Arla, and Saab.

The American Cleaning Institute has released the first report that outlines environmental metrics for the U. S. cleaning product supply chain. Twenty of the association’s member companies contributed information about their sustainability practices, focusing on data from between 2007 and 2009. Among the findings are decreases of 25 percent in greenhouse gas emissions, 18 percent in energy use by 18 percent, and 10 percent in water usage.
