Microsoft is providing free support and software licenses to help customers and partners impacted by the Japan disaster. Its Exchange Online program will be free for 90 days to business customers in Japan whose communications have been affected. Microsoft has also established a disaster response portal that allows governments and NGOs to communicate with citizens or intra-agency. To date, the overall US business community has donated $140 million dollars in cash and in-kind contributions for disaster relief in Japan.

Business in the Community launched its new program, “Visioning the Future: Transforming Business,” at its Responsible Business Convention held last week in London. The program helps businesses move toward a more sustainable model. In partnership with Insight Exchange, BITC also launched a guide that features case studies of six companies, including Kraft Foods, Marks and Spencer, and Unilever. The guide, “Influencing Consumer Behavior,” contains conversations with 50 marketers and a review of work to align brand values and business practices with consumer priorities.
