CAMPAIGN: The CSR Minute

CONTENT: Press Release

Hello, I’m Emily Polk and these are your CSR Minute headlines for Wednesday, February 10th.

The NBA has announced that the half-time show of its All-Star game, to be played this Sunday, February 14th, will feature performances by Alicia Keys, Shakira, and Usher. Keys is co-founder and global ambassador of Keep A Child Alive, a non-profit dedicated to providing treatment for AIDS to children and families in Africa, India, and throughout the developing world. Shakira founded the PIES DESCALZOS Foundation, a Colombian charity that builds special schools for poor children. Usher founded and actively directs New Look, Inc., an organization that empowers youth from underserved communities by teaching skills to become business and community leaders.

The University of Cambridge has issued a list of 50 of the most influential books written on sustainability and the environment. Over 2,000 alumni contributed to the report, compiling a roster of titles thought to be especially inspirational, influential in the development of current thought, and most beneficial in offering solutions to economic and environmental challenges. Books by Rachel Carson, Paul Hawken, Eric Schlosser, and John Elkington, among others, made the cut.
