CAMPAIGN: The CSR Minute

CONTENT: Press Release

Hello, I’m Emily Polk, and these are your CSR Minute headlines for Thursday, February 18th:

The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers has announced the publication of Standard 189.1, the first code-intended, commercial green building standard in the U.S. The Standard provides a green building guide by which to design, build, and operate green buildings. From site location to energy use to recycling, Standard 189.1 will be the new, uniform outline for green buildings through its adoption into local codes. The Standard was developed by the Association, the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, and the U.S. Green Building Council.

The San Francisco Unified School District is expanding its green practices district-wide, including recycling and delivering organic foods to schools. The Board of Education has approved a resolution setting nine goals for sustainability in schools, including using environmentally friendly janitorial supplies and waste reduction. The efforts will be funded through grants and other resources, including support from the city’s Public Utilities Commission and Department of the Environment.
