Puma, the sports apparel company, has become one of the first major corporations to publish an economic valuation of the environmental impacts of its supply chain. Puma’s environmental profit and loss account shows that the direct ecological impact of its operations equals 6 million British pounds, while an additional 74 million pounds can be accounted for throughout its entire supply chain. Puma, and its corporate parent, PPR, which owns luxury brands Gucci and Stella McCartney, have announced that within four years its collections will be manufactured to a sustainability standard, and that its suppliers will be required to develop more sustainable materials and products.

Sleepy’s has launched a new community relations and cause marketing program. The mattress company’s “Bedder Days” initiative will partner with select organizations that serve those in critical need. In a first effort, Sleepy’s has provided 30 complete sets of bedding to the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, which hosts youth campers with serious illnesses. Future partnerships with Furniture Sharehouse and the American Red Cross are in the works.
