The British government has published a new draft planning framework that calls sustainable growth a top priority. The paper, by the Department for Communities and Local Government, calls for fast-tracking planning decisions that promote greener buildings, green energy, and protection of biodiversity in the environment. The proposals could be put into practice throughout the United Kingdom by April of next year.

Dole Food Company has announced a new website dedicated to its corporate responsibility and sustainability efforts. The site focuses more on results from Dole’s initiatives than on policies. A section on metrics records the company’s carbon and water footprint, and is updated on a regular basis, measuring actual performance. An interactive section called “Explore” describes specific initiatives now in development at the local level. To visit, go to www.dolecrs.com
