Avea, the Turkish cell phone company, was recognized for its social responsibility by the Best Business Awards, a British organization that evaluates business practices. The company’s strategic plan includes sustainable and community projects, with a special focus on education. Avea is the third-largest mobile phone company in Turkey.
Top Systems has signed up with the BBVA Foundation to provide software for the microfinance organizations affiliated with the foundation. The BBVA Foundation is the corporate responsibility arm of the Spain-based global bank, and is working to set up a global network of microfinance institutions in Latin America. Uruguayan-based Top Systems’ microfinance software, “Topaz Banking,” has recently been adopted by Nuevo Banco Commercial, a retail bank in Uruguay.
