CAMPAIGN: The CSR Minute

CONTENT: Press Release

Hello, I’m Emily Polk, and these are your CSR Minute headlines for Tuesday, June 8th:

Macy’s and Feeding America were the overall winners of the Cause Marketing Forum’s Halo Awards, presented last week at the organization’s annual conference in Chicago. Macy’s was recognized for its support of nonprofit partnerships that raised $36 million in 2009, up from $32 million the year before. Feeding America was honored for its effective re-branding, and several new and renewed corporate partnerships that have made it one of corporate America’s most sought-after nonprofit partners. Winners in 20 other, cause-specific categories included eBay, the NBA, SunChips, General Mills, and Ben and Jerry’s.

Visitors to the World Cup in South Africa can now travel on Bombardier’s Electrostar train, known as Gautrain, between the O-R Tambo International Airport and the hotels and shops of the commercial hub of Sandton. The new service, officially opened today, will eventually grow to be an 80-kilometer rapid rail link, connecting the capital, Pretoria to the economic center, Johannesburg. Through the company’s Local Roots strategy, Bombardier is working with SPG, its Black Economic Empowerment partners, to build most of the rail equipment with 80 percent South African employees. Bombardier uses its ECO-4 Technologies—four principles of energy, efficiency, economy, and ecology—as guidelines.
