CAMPAIGN: The CSR Minute

CONTENT: Press Release

Hello, I’m Emily Polk, and these are your CSR Minute headlines for Thursday, May 13th:

CKE Restaurants, operators of Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s chains, will wind up this year’s fifth annual Pink Star campaign next Tuesday. Customers who donate $1 to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation will receive a coupon for $10 dollars to use in the Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s restaurants. Funds raised through the Pink Star program go directly toward free mammograms for underserved women. Last year, the campaign raised more than $1 million dollars.

The headquarters building of the International Finance Corporation, has been awarded the LEED Platinum Certification for Existing Buildings by the U. S. Green Building Council. The IFC building is the first to receive the platinum rating, the highest level, in Washington, D.C., and only the second nationally since the council launched the EB Certification program in 2009. Commercial buildings account for 17 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S. Only 488 buildings nationally and nine in Washington, D. C. have achieved LEED-EB category certification to date.
