CAMPAIGN: The CSR Minute

CONTENT: Press Release

Hello, I’m Gretchen Siegchrist, and these are your CSR Minute headlines for Monday, April 5th:

Coca-Cola Enterprises has won a 2010 Atlanta Business Chronicle Environmental Award for its water conservation efforts. From 2006 to 2008, the company reduced its water use by five percent, saving the City of Atlanta more than 1.65 million gallons of water. CCE has implemented water-saving technologies such as dry lubrication, air rinsers, and can warmers in its manufacturing processes, and is currently one of the most water –efficient users in the beverage industry.

The just-released, second annual Corporate Social Responsibility Branding Survey by Landor, a strategic branding firm, concludes that social responsibility remains a high priority for consumers. The report finds that 77 percent of consumers responding to the survey say that it is important to be socially responsible. The survey analyzed consumer views of companies across 14 industries, from apparel to telecommunications. In another finding, of the five industries where respondents most highly value responsibility, financial services, media, and healthcare are perceived as performing worst on the issues, with healthcare scoring especially badly, as just 35 percent of consumers say the industry has performed well, a 10 percent drop since 2009.
