Hello, I’m Emily Polk, and these are your CSR Minute headlines for Monday, May 17th:
Coca-Cola Enterprises has installed 35 climate-friendly vending machines in the U.S. Capitol. The new machines are hydro-fluorocarbon-free and use a natural refrigerant gas that reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 99 percent. The House of Representatives is the first location in the U.S. to feature the new machines. More than 400 of the HFC-free models will be installed by Coca-Cola North America throughout the country in 2010.
Robin of Shoreditch, an anonymous band of creative outlaws, has invented a new method to rob the rich to help the poor: the 100 Brands Project, launched to raise funds for relief efforts in Haiti. The group of ad industry creatives offers each company on BrandZ’s 100 Top Brands Index an idea to help that company’s business grow. In return, the Robin of Shoreditch team sends an invoice for one ten-millionth of the value of that brand as a fee, 100 percent of which goes to the DEC Haiti Appeal. If all 100 of the world’s A-list, biggest brands pay their invoices, the group will raise and donate $195,207.10 for Haiti relief.
