Hello, I’m Emily Polk, and these are your CSR Minute headlines for Monday, June 28th:

Direct Energy, a Canadian energy company, has been included for the first time in Maclean’s Top 50 Socially Responsible Corporations annual ranking. Direct Energy was recognized for its 2010 Volunteer Challenge in which the company’s employees across North America logged 10,000 volunteer hours for the year. Direct Energy was also cited for its leadership in carbon disclosure. Maclean’s rankings were generated by the magazine’s Jantzi-Sustainalytics method which evaluates companies operating in Canada across a broad range of environmental, social, and governance indicators. 

The Special Needs Group has been named the winner of the 2010 Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year “Stevie” Award, part of the 2010 American Business Awards. Special Needs Group was recognized for helping thousands of travelers each year to enjoy barrier-free travel by providing special needs equipment.  In addition, Special Needs Group works to raise awareness of special needs travel through informational and educational communications and events.
