The Elsevier Foundation(@ElsevierNews) has announced $300,000 in grants to four libraries in developing countries. The grant recipients, chosen from 260 proposals, focus on telemedicine, an HIV/AIDS video archive, and a cancer database. The four new library projects join six others in the Innovative Libraries program previously funded by the Elsevier Foundation.

EnerNOC(@EnerNOC), a provider of web-based energy management applications, has partnered with a Virginia Tech research group to monitor energy usage data across multiple sites. The innovative study will focus on “lean” manufacturing studies to identify opportunities for improved efficiency. Three Virginia wood product manufacturers, Merrillat, Ten Oaks Flooring Company, and Morgan Lumber, will contribute data to the project.
