Hello, I’m Gretchen Siegchrist, and these are your CSR Minute headlines for Monday, August 2nd:

Google has signed a contract with an Iowa wind farm to purchase clean energy at a set rate for the next 20 years. The Power Purchase Agreement is the first deal brokered by Google Energy, which gained the ability to buy and sell electricity like a public utility in February. Google’s purchase from the NextEra Energy Resources Story County II facility in Iowa will supply enough power to run several Google data centers. Google has invested $38 million in wind farms this year.

Wendel, Rosen, Black & Dean has earned B Corporation certification, making it one of the few law firms in the country to receive that title. Wendel Rosen, an Oakland-based firm, launched its Green Business Practice Group in 2003, and became the first certified green law firm in the U.S that year. Awarded by B Lab, the nonprofit dedicated to creating a new model of business with integrated social and environmental goals, B Corps certification has been given to more than 300 companies in 54 countries.
