Hello, I’m Gretchen Siegchrist, and these are your CSR Minute headlines for Tuesday, July 13th:

Kraft Foods has cut manufacturing waste by 30 percent over the last four years, due to its new sustainability programs. The cut has already exceeded a goal of 15 percent reduction by 2011 set by the company in 2005. Kraft credits its employees’ aggressive implementation of waste-reduction efforts for doubling that goal two years early. Kraft now recycles or reuses 90 percent of its manufacturing waste.

Winslow Management, a company of the Brown Advisory Investment Group, has issued a report on the state of green investment. Their research outlines a global universe of over 1,000 investable green companies that offer double-digit growth drivers in rapidly expanding markets. To identify the most compelling prospects, Winslow grouped seven major environmental challenges with the corresponding solutions categories: green buildings, green transportation, resource efficiency, sustainable energy, sustainable living, environmental services, and water. Research through 22 third-party academic, consulting, and industry sources is summarized in the report into realistic market sizes and growth rates for each sector.
