Hello, I’m Emily Polk, and these are your CSR Minute headlines for Thursday, December 9th:

Nike has developed a software tool to help designers incorporate sustainability efforts in the pre-production process. The company has spent seven years and $6 million to create the Environmental Apparel Design Tool to guide real-time decisions in reducing waste and conserving resources such as oil and water. Nike plans to expand sustainable material resources by making the open-source software available to other manufacturers.

Will Ferrell is the fifth celebrity designer in 7-Eleven’s annual “Coffee Cup with a Cause” campaign. Sales of Ferrell’s Snowman Cup will benefit Cancer for College, which provides support to cancer survivors through academic scholarships. 7-Eleven has guaranteed a $250,000 minimum donation to Cancer for College, but that amount could increase based on the total number of cups sold.
