Hello, I’m Emily Polk, and these are your CSR Minute headlines for Monday, October 18th:

Johnson & Johnson, Disney, and Kraft Foods rank first, second, and third as the companies thought to have the best corporate social responsibility credentials, according to a new survey based on consumer responses. The Reputation Institute and the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship based the ratings on responses from 8,000 consumers about major U.S. firms’ CSR, governance, and workplace practices. The beverage category scored highest overall for CSR credit, while the financial and energy sectors were listed at the bottom of the rankings.

Greenopolis, a subsidiary of Waste Management that produces interactive recycling kiosks to collect materials in high-traffic locations, has launched Oceanopolis, a Facebook game for recycling online and in the community. In Oceanopolis, players build a sustainable cyber-community of islands, the ocean, and their friends’ habitats. All points earned in Oceanpolis game-play can be combined with those earned at Greenopolis recycling kiosks to win rewards such as discounts and coupons.
