Samsung, Korea’s top conglomerate, has doubled its target for microcredit loans to $51 million dollars this year. The announcement comes as big businesses in Korea are being called on to help small firms and workers. Samsung raised its funding for this year by frontloading its planned spending for next year. Six of its affiliates, including Samsung Electronics, will commit $26 million dollars every year for the next ten years to the microcredit program.

Battery powered rickshaws have hit the streets of New Delhi, India, sponsored by telecom company Vodafone Essar as part of its eco-friendly and corporate social responsibility activity in advance of the Commonwealth Games, to be held in Delhi in October. The E-ricks promote green transportation for a cleaner environment in the Indian capital city. Next month, Vodafone will send SMSs to its subscribers about its launch of a “Clean Delhi” program.
