Summary

During the 2009 holiday season, many brands received a lift by partnering with non-profit organizations.  With the 2010 holiday season on the horizon, we can expect to see more cause marketing campaigns then ever.  What separates a good campaign from an average one, is the company's ability to effectively select a cause that resonates with it's customers.

Megan Strand of InCouraged Communications offers some insight, "I think the values match and communications pieces are more important than the cause du jour," said Strand. "[It is] better to choose a cause that truly resonates with your organization that go with a cause that seems 'popular.'"

Jana Taylor, VP Marketing with Benevity agrees "We believe the causes that work 'best' are the causes that most resonate with a company's customers."
