Chase has become the first big bank to voluntarily adopt a simplified checking account disclosure form, as proposed by the nonprofit group Pew Charitable Trusts. Chase’s form makes disclosure about all potential fees shorter, and is written in clear, simpler language. Two credit unions, the North Carolina State Employees’ Credit Union and the Pentagon Federal Credit Union, have also voluntarily adopted simpler forms. A Pew study found that the typical checking account disclosure form is 111 jargon-filled pages.

Hara, a sustainable software company, has been chosen by Aflac and Alcatel-Lucent to consolidate energy and emissions data into a system of record for improved transparency, insight, and enhanced sustainability. Aflac selected Hara to support the company’s SmartGreen philosophy of environmental and corporate social responsibility efforts. Alcatel-Lucent is implementing Hara’s software solutions throughout 800 facilities. The company recently ranked 4th out of 800 companies worldwide for public reporting of emissions, and was named sector leader in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.
