Cisco has opened the NHL All-Star Legacy Playroom at Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. As presenting sponsor, Cisco has underwritten an interactive space that features the company’s WebEx online conferencing system, which allows young patients to connect to family, friends, schools, and teachers during a hospital stay. The Playroom was opened in conjunction with the 2012 NHL All-Star Weekend, the League’s midseason game being held for the first time in Canada’s capital. Cisco’s partners include the NHL, the NHL Players Association, the Ottawa Senators, and Hockey Hall of Famer Pat LaFontaine and his Companions in Courage charity.

Barrick has won the award for best CSR practice at the 2012 IR Magazine Canada Awards. The Toronto-based gold mining company won the honor through an independent survey of the investment community conducted by the magazine. The IR Magazine Awards are the leading international honors for excellence and leadership in investor relations.
