“There’s going to be various factors that drive large corporations towards more engagement in environmental protection,” says Rick Ridgeway, vice president, environmental initiatives and special media, at Patagonia, the outdoor apparel company.

“There’s going to be different ways that companies are going feel pressure to reduce the footprint of their own manufacturing processes.”

Ridgeway says government regulations and equity markets will help drive environmental change.

“Eventually, the main driver of change in corporations is going be us – when we the consumers become increasingly aware of the impact that the products we buy are having on the planet.”
