New research by James Fowler at The University of California shows that, in a social network, happiness spreads among people up to three degrees removed from one another. Meanwhile, Tony Hseish, CEO of Zappos, believes that social media and social networking have contributed to his company’s corporate culture, values, customer service, and productivity.

These are just two examples of the positive impact businesses are experiencing with these technologies. Ron Shewchuk will discuss how to apply others’ learning in your organization, without raising unrealistic expectations. He will also consider employees’ changing values, how communications can help bridge the “engagement gap,” and how the new world of social media can improve quality of life in the workplace.
