Ernst and Young has been recognized with a U.S. President’s Volunteer Service Award for its contribution of more than 5,000 volunteer hours. The award was one of 20 presented by Junior Achievement at its quarterly board of directors meeting. The President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation created the award program as a way to honor the employees of American companies for their volunteer commitments.

Gildan Activewear has launched a new website dedicated to its corporate citizenship practices. The site includes the company’s eighth Corporate Citizenship Report and information about its sustainability programs and initiatives. Among the highlights are 47,000 medical visits by employees to its clinics in Central America and the Dominican Republic; a 92 percent reduction of total waste; and the donation of $100,000 in scholarship grants in Honduras.
