Last week, students from Virginia Tech University took top honors when they were named the overall winners of EcoCAR: The NeXt Challenge after designing and building an exceptional extended-range electric vehicle using E85.  The Ohio State University and the University of Waterloo took second and third.

Here’s a video from EcoCAR’s Finish Line event in Washington, D.C. Hear from Georgia Tech, Penn State and Ohio State students as they discuss their career plans and vehicle designs with U.S. Secretary of Energy Dr. Steven Chu.

General Motors Executive Director for Global Electrical Systems, Infotainment & Electrification Micky Bly is also featured talking about the importance of the competition while taking the Georgia Tech EcoCAR for a spin.

We’d like to congratulate all the teams, and we’re looking forward to EcoCAR 2 starting this fall.
