Progressive supply chain approaches over the past few decades have moved procurement beyond the traditional adversarial relationship.  Instead, the companies on the leading edge realize the long-term negative impacts of pushing cost inventory, and other burdens back onto their suppliers.  Many companies now strive to operate in a balanced win/win framework with their supply stakeholders to define additional value.
