Buick Enclave Predicts Rollover Crashes, Employs Safety Measures
StabiliTrak technology in the 2011 Buick Enclave is able to assess the threat of a rollover crash and put into place measures to protect occupants before the crash occurs. “It’s like we gave the Enclave special powers when it comes to rollovers,” said Bridget O’Brien-Mitchell, the General Motors engineer who led the team that developed predictive rollover sensing. “But we’re using technology as part of our commitment to protect customers and their families.” The new safety measure are part of what have earned the Enclave the NHTSA’s highest five-star overall vehicle safety score as well as a Top Safety Pick citation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
 
GM Leads in Clean-Energy Patents
General Motors received more clean-energy patents last year than any other organization, according to the Clean Energy Patent Growth Index of U.S. patents. GM’s 135 patents represent nearly 14 percent of the total 1,881 received by 700 entities. GM’s patents covered hybrid electric vehicles, fuel cells and solar energy, and focused on improvements to current and future technologies.

Buick and NCAA Team up with the “Buick Human Highlight Reel.”
Student-athletes’ accomplishments don’t end when the buzzer sounds or when their college careers come to an end. Buick and the NCAA have teamed up to showcase the achievements of former college athletes, who are making differences in their communities, well after their playing days ended. The “Human Highlight Reel” made its debut during the NCAA Men’s Basketball championship game on April 4. “The Buick Human Highlight Reel shows the continued leadership and dedication that student-athletes have once they complete their academic programs and become active in their communities or involved with broad initiatives that have a positive influence on the lives of others,” said Peter Davis, NCAA director of championships and alliances.
