Celebration Event to take place on July 12, 2012

Now in its 20th year, Pollution Probe’s 2012 Clean Air Commute was a resounding success, breaking previous records in the number of kilometres logged, participating workplaces and avoided air pollutants.

In total, over three million kilometres were logged by 257 participating workplaces from Montreal, Calgary, Halifax, Regina, Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area. Through participation, Canadians prevented the release of 555 tonnes of air pollution over one week compared to 480 tonnes in 2011 by 189 workplaces. Workplace participation in this year’s challenge grew an astounding 36 per cent compared with last year.

"The results are positively staggering and demonstrate a renewed support for the environment,” says Bob Oliver, Chief Executive Officer, Pollution Probe. “With heat and smog alerts, and traffic congestion on the rise, the Clean Air Commute proves how easy it is to make a difference, and how simple it is to incorporate changes into your daily routine.”

Join Pollution Probe’s celebration and awards ceremony, recognizing those participants who demonstrated the highest levels of commitment to and embodied the spirit of the 2012 Clean Air Commute!
