(3BLMedia/theCSRfeed) SANTA MONICA, CA (July 21, 2010): KooDooZ Corporation announced a 105-day social impact campaign entitled Passport to Wellness for the City of Santa Monica's Buy Local program.

Campaign kick-off was at the Santa Monica Chamber Health and Fitness Expo on July 17th, educating attendees about the many actions they can take to serve their family, community and world.  Purposed to raise awareness of the economic and environmental benefits of choosing local first, the Passport to Wellness offers a variety of events which address community challenges, such as:

  • Childhood Obesity:  1-in-3 American youth are considered overweight and likely to develop Type 2 diabetes.  To help raise awareness of our challenge with obesity, KooDooZ and brand partner, O2 MAX Fitness, is powering a family friendly city-walk on August 14th, 2010, entitled Tour de Fitness.  Up to 300 participants will experience new fitness and wellness outlets.

  • Youth Homelessness: According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, there's about 50,000 youth in the U.S. who sleep out on the street for 6-months or more.  To educate the community about this challenge, KooDooZ and non-profit partner, Boys & Girls Club of Santa Monica, are inviting up to 150-kids for a sleep-out on August 27th, 2010.  This event will detail specific ways the community can help address homelessness.

  • Single Use Bags: It's estimated that between 500 billion and 1 trillion grocery bags are used globally each year.  Together with the ReUseConnection, KooDooZ and Team Marine will give the public new ways they can rethink their use of plastics.  On September 25th, 2010, an award-winning documentary, "Bag It" will also be shown followed by family-friendly "reUse" activities at the Santa Monica Public Library.

"This KooDooZ Passport is designed to generate positive behavioral and social change at the family level," said Lee Fox, KooDooZ Founder and Chief Innovator.  "We think people of all ages should have equal opportunity to make their world a better place.  KooDooZ will highlight activities which families -- and specifically kids -- can do both on-and-offline to serve a greater good."

Youth development research reflects the overwhelming demand for ways tweens can make a difference.  The Passport To Wellness satisfies this demand by hosting real-world events (7 for the Santa Monica Passport) and offering a variety of online challenges.  "As each challenge is designed to address specific humanitarian issues," says Fox, "turning a Passport challenge into an achievement, directly benefits the Santa Monica community and the individual participant."

About KooDooZ® Corporation:

KooDooZ ("Kü - Düz") is a "cause-based" social networking site designed to cultivate youth social entrepreneurs by “challenging” them to achieve specific philanthropic goals. In partnership with nonprofits, educators and profit-for-purpose organizations, each challenge is authored with easy-to-follow methodologies and anticipated times to complete. By sharing these challenges with friends and family, kids can virally garner support for the causes they care about most and earn credit towards the President’s Volunteer Service Award for those tasks that meet volunteerism, community service and service learning standards. For more information, visit www.KooDooZ.com.  To learn more about the Passport to Wellness challenges and events, please click here.
