Loblaw, a Canadian grocery company, has been named as one of Canada’s most admired corporate cultures of 2011 by Waterstone Human Capital, a national executive recruitment firm. The only grocery retailer on the Top Ten list, Loblaw earned the recognition for its innovation in establishing a socially viable workplace. Loblaw scored high in several areas, including vision and leadership, cultural alignment, measurement and sustainability and corporate social responsibility. Among the other companies named were the Royal Bank of Canada and Shoppers Drug Mart.

Lackawanna College Lake Region Center is offering a new Ecological Sustainability Career Plan. The two-year associate’s degree is designed to educate students to become ecologically literate and to equip them to excel in the green job market. Much of the training is experiential, with many classes taking place in the field with local experts.
