TOPIC: Making Change Stick
Plenary Session 6 at Public Sector Transformation: Leading Change in Times of Constraint
WHEN: Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 8:45 a.m
WHERE: Ottawa
Priority Code: 3BL1

Featuring:
Carole Morris,
Principal and Eastern Region Team Lead, Leadership Solutions, Knightsbridge Human Capital Inc.

The last decade may be remembered for the widespread breakdown of major institutions—the collapse of multiple industries, failures of internal controls, and an inability to manage accelerating change. One conclusion to draw from this turmoil is that traditional approaches to management don’t seem to promote lasting change.

This conclusion is reinforced by the fact that, no matter what the industry, the same issues keep surfacing year after year—poor teamwork, ineffective communication, and marginal performance. Why are organizations unable to solve these problems?

In this session Carole Morris will suggest that the answer lies in an incomplete understanding of organizational behaviour, and how people’s views are inevitably partial, biased, and specialized. She will explain how an understanding of this can lead to a more successful approach to change.
