New York and San Francisco have won the World Green Building Council’s Government Leadership Awards for Excellence in City Policy for Green Building. New York City won the Industry Transformation Award for its Greener, Greater Buildings Plan, part of the PlanNYC sustainability program to reduce citywide carbon dioxide emissions by 30 percent by 2030. San Francisco won the Best Green Building Policy award for its Green Building Ordinance, a policy that requires all new commercial, residential, and municipal construction to be built to LEED standards. The awards were announced by the U.S. Green Building Council

Brooks Sports, parent company of Brooks and Moving Comfort Brands, has released its first corporate responsibility report. The report, “Running Responsibly,” includes Brooks’ first greenhouse gas emissions measurement, highlights of the corporation’s 2009 and 2010 environmental and social performance, and efforts being taken to manage material sustainability issues. It also notes key focus areas for future challenges.
