(3BL Media) New York, NY - April 2, 2012 - Recyclebank®, the company that rewards people for taking everyday green actions with discounts and deals from local and national businesses, has launched its Passport for the Planet challenge, a nationwide, interactive game to celebrate Earth Month and the steps that people in cities and countries around the world are taking to be more sustainable. The challenge, which runs through May 7, takes participants on a virtual trip through four global regions to learn interesting sustainable facts from around the world and encourages them to make similar eco-friendly choices in their own communities. Throughout the journey, members have chances to earn Recyclebank Points, encounter some fun surprises and be entered to win one of 180 prizes, including a four-night stay at the eco-friendly Plantation on Crystal River outside of Tampa, Fla., courtesy of VISIT FLORIDA®, a GE GeoSpring™ Hybrid Water Heater and $1,000 from Recyclebank.

“During Earth Month, people across the planet come together to show their support for a more sustainable future. At Recyclebank, we believe that each and every one of us has the power to make a global impact through the choices we make locally,” said Jonathan Hsu, chief executive officer at Recyclebank. “Be it biking to work, recycling your cereal carton or taking shorter showers—collectively, we all can make a difference and we hope that Passport for the Planet will help inspire and motivate our members to make more green choices that will continue far beyond Earth Month.”

To be part of the journey, people can visit http://passport.recyclebank.com and start earning points immediately. Each week, Recyclebank and its Passport for the Planet partners—such as JOHNSON’S® NATURAL®, Neutrogena® Naturals, GE and Recyclebank’s Partners in Purpose: Honest Tea®, Kashi® and Stonyfield™—will unlock new global regions and themes, giving members the opportunity to learn green tips and share their own, take pledges and quizzes and enter the contest and weekly sweepstakes.
