This week, Texas Operations is initiating a recycling pilot program at Buildings 1 and 86.  In addition to the green recycling dumpsters located outside the buildings, employees are also seeing new green recycling bins in their offices and break rooms.

The pilot program is in response to Longview’s new single-stream recycling facility - Rivers Recycling.  “Single stream” means that all acceptable recyclable material can be placed in the same container.  The separation of paper, plastic, metal, etc. is done at the facility, making recycling a lot easier for consumers.

The TXO recycling program will include paper (non-confidential paper, all colors and stock; shredded paper including shredded confidential paper, newspaper, phonebooks, and magazines); cardboard (such as empty boxes); plastic (clear plastics, colored plastics labeled as # 1’s and 2’s,  and plastic bags); and aluminum, steel and tin (empty food and drink containers, and aluminum foil).

The TXO Recycling Team members who contributed to the development of this program include Doug Britain, Michelle Holyfield, Steve Hunt, Wendy Jeter, Pete Lamothe, Kyle McDonough, Jamie Moseley, Stancy Simpson, and Rick Stolle.
